I don't see the rotation idea working all that well. There are so many people that only come out once a month. They won't know where to go.

The problem is the liquor store. If we all go into Schlokys and talk to the managers and tell them what is going on they will talk to the property owners and head off the jerk at the liquor store. The liquor store guy is just a a-hole. he has plenty of parking next to his businesses that we do not use. I have already talk to the schlozkys manage but others need to do so also. They like all the business we give them at 8 o'clock on a Saturday. If we leave it will just follow us like it always does. i think we should try and resolve the issue here instead of continuing to run. If we do move can we try to keep it near Cedar Park and coordinate with Gary.

Gary has permission for a gathering of about 20-30 older units. I agree about what you say about the liquor store guy, but I think he doesn't like the younger set, not the newer cars. Gary is not in favor of the newer cars, but doesn't care how old you are. If we get permission from Souper Salad, a gathering every other weekend would be nice. That way we know what weekend to meet and it's not regular enough to upset any businesses.

It is a fact that this has been going on for years, Every where I have gone the younger guys follow and no matter where we go they will follow and ruin it. They came to Home Depot then to the Chick Flite and now here. They will come no matter where we are. Even if it is far away if not the ones now others will come that is the nature of a unruled car show. So we need to make it happen where we are and some how police them out or they will go to super salads or where ever we go that is what they do. Personally super salads is way to far for me to drive my camaro. i am not going to go on IH-35 and get rock chips from semi's or maybe hit by one or burn $20 worth of gas

Its my understanding that the liquor store is the main problem. I'm not really sure why since he does have all that side parking. I also heard that Big Lots complained about it.
I have nothing against staying at Schlotzskys. From what everyone was saying last week I thought they were wanting to put an end to it as well. Has anyone else spoken with them?

One other thing though. Many of our club members have newer vehicles. What about that?
I wouldn't call it running if we are told we can no longer go there. The only way it will work is if the car clubs are given permission to mark off an area and police it. I don't think 30 spaces is enough it needs to be twice that.

As much as we enjoy our loose structure, if we have hopes of holding our ground I believe we're going to have to create a closed show. We could limit it to classic cars/trucks (pre 80's?), domestics ( to include our newer American car owners) and specialty/rare cars.
This would effectively eliminate the speeding diesels and the "younger" crowd *cough*ricers*cough* And hopefully if we could secure a bit more parking this would be agreeable with the parties involved.
If nothing else, has anyone spoken to Wendy's management? Perhaps they'd take on such a gathering?

Gary's update on 1431.
Our old car group will continue to meet where we have been meeting for the last five years (183/1431), I'm sure some will want to try out the new location with the new cars. I hope and I put this bluntly, that the hot rod jerks, rice rockets and other noisy show off idiots find there own place and stay away from both our groups. I have several locations picked out in the Cedar Park/leander area that we can meet at but until we are asked or told to leave we will just keep doing what we have been doing. If and when we are told to leave we can try out some different spots, as long as are group stays small (under 30 cars) meeting places should not be a problem. Finding a place as nice as the one we have is a big problem, a good place needs good parking, shade, food, and restrooms to be doable. One of the biggest items is when we do pick a spot we need people with the old cars to show up to keep it going. We have been doing this Saturday night cruise thing since 1988 and it seems as though every time we get the mix of old and newer cars we have problems and get kicked out. There are many reasons why it doesn't work but the easy way out is to let the new car people do their thing and the ones with old cars do theirs and if some of them want to mix that's ok too as long as it don't get lopsided. I agree, until; someone comes up to me and says you need to get out of here, I Will be going to 1431 and 183 when I make it out. One comment that needs clarification and google has provided the following.

A classic car is an older car; the exact meaning is variable. The Classic Car Club of America maintains that a car must be between 20 and 40 years old to be a classic, while cars over 45 years fall into the Antique Class. Now my Vette is only 29 years old but I think it fits in the group quite nicely.
Lastly, why is the discussion going on here instead of in the other section.

I feel that completely doing away with non classics is not the way to go. Many of our friends ans members don't drive classics.

I want to put this out there, even though it may not be the most popular opinion. I really loved the "bring what you got" aspect of the cruise-in. While I have a 67 GTO in my garage, it's a LONG way from cruise-worthy, and I enjoy putting my LT1 '96 Roadmaster wagon and 88 Cutlass in the show. Neither one are "classics", but I get positive comments on both cars and it's frankly just fun to be in the show.
I'm not a big fan of ricers or lowriders, and understand the concerns of the local business owners, but hate to single anyone out. And as a huge car nut in general I enjoy seeing the new Corvettes, Mustangs, Challengers, Camaros and such at the show. If you love cars and can afford the payments, more power to you and pull up a chair.
As for the teenagers, if they are just there to blast music and peel out, then yes, that's not why we're here, but if they have a real interest in cars then I welcome them. With all the tree-hugging car-hating liberal people out there now, this hobby is in a lot of danger of going away.
I really enjoy showing off my toys to kids of all ages, and as long as they are respectful of our cars and are there to enjoy them and not cause trouble, then any "car person" is fine with me.
One of my favorite things about living in this city is the large car-culture and come-as-you-are attitude. I saw that in our cruise-in and hope we can find a new home for it where everyone is still welcome.

I have not really noticed the rice burners and tires squeelers, I guess I am leaving too early for that. I do have to get home to put my 2 kids in bed. Are they getting there after 8:30?
If it is a thing that could be modulated by time, maybe we get permission to be there up until 9:00, have a curfew and then everyone goes home.
Maybe this is a bad idea, but just thinking of alternative ways to deal with a problem I haven't even witnessed.

We definitely don't want a time cutoff. Many of us stay up there pretty late. Some people don't even show up until 9.
As far as meets go the music or bass and peel outs really is minimized compared to the others.
