I just got forwarded an email from a cruise-in regular that the Cedar Park CI (1431 & 183) will be disbanded in the next couple of weeks. Anybody else hear this? I did not go tonight.

Gary's e-mail.
We were notified tonight officially that we are going to evicted form this location. I knew this was coming a few weeks ago as there has been way too many cars mostly newer ones showing up and taking customer parking at some of the businesses. Five years ago when we started at this location we had permission from the businesses to park up to 30 OLD cars in their lot. Now there is 30 old cars and up to 100 or more newer ones. This was intended to be a old cars only cruise-in and was advertized as such but apparently people with their used cars think is the location to show off what their bank loan will buy them. One of the business owners talked with us tonight telling us we needed to leave, he said he was fine with the old cars but didn't want all the new ones taking up parking. Of course we can't control who shows up so it looks like we all will be leaving. The businesses are talking with owner of the location and a attorney to see what the legal process is, so don't be surprised to see the police coming around to run everyone out in the next couple of weeks. Please pass this e-mail around especially to anyone you know with the newer cars letting them know that have ruined another cruise in spot for us. He said if we could get the new cars to leave we could stay but I told him there was no way we can control who shows up and I'm not about to tell anyone although I would like to. Gary

I heard the same thing last night. I knew this was coming, but thought it might make it through the summer.
I like the idea of an auto parts store meet. I was thinking of Pep Boys.
I wish the majority of the high school kids would go off and do their own thing. I don't mind if they come if they really are a car enthusiast or want to look. Most of them just hang out over on the other side, so really what is the point?

It looks like Souper Salad may be our new spot at least for a while.

But Souper Salads will be the same rules. A small group, mostly classics and not 75+ new cars.

If its done right like Cabelas is there shouldn't be anything big problems. Down there the car clubs have permission to self police the meet.
I realize that it would be that way at Souper Salad, but at least our club would have a place to go.

If we can keep it small and orderly, maybe rotate times between 4-6 pm and keep it quiet, we could make it work.

I talked to my friend at El Patron, he said we could probably organize a meet there on weekday evenings but no-go for the weekends. It's over by the IHOP on 1431, just up the road. Thoughts anyone?

A self-Policing idea is a quasi-registering process. "come by to get your " " to show you are part of the group and agree to adhere to the "rules of respect"

Here are my thoughts, I like the idea of rotating from location to location each weekend. For instance, this weekend we have the Freddies thing. I have spoken with Denise at Souper Salad and she is very interested in having us at this location, but is concerned about it getting out of hand. If we change the locations and can come to some sort of agreement with the other clubs ( Like Gary and his gang) that we can rotate together that would be great, this also has the benefit of not having to police others, unless they somehow get our emails.
I am highly interested in everyone thoughts on this and I feel we need to include Gary in our movement, since his allowed our group to hang out in Cedar Park for so long and I don't want to make him feel abandon but Classic American Rides.

Wow! What a pain the --- I like the rotation of places. Freddy's this weekend, then maybe Souper Salads the next, then maybe back to the schlotsky's. Going from place to place might confuse the young guns Anyway, it would be great if we can have a rotation of about 3 different places. This way, we might not get thrown out. Plus I think the businesses would actually appreciate us being there for their business, like Carl's and Chick fil A appreciated it. Oh, well, we would need to post each Friday where we would be. Thats my 2 cents

The rotation idea is pretty good, except deciding as a group where it will be every week is going to be a nightmare (speaking from past experience). The only way it could work, is if one person was in charge of deciding. Maybe rotate the guy in charge.

Agree because we have members that don't use are web page, we would need to send out text messages or call them. But still a good idea

What about the closed Albertson's parking lot off 183 just south of Cedar Park near the Main Event and the Melting Pot/Chedders. That's a good central location for a lot of us, with lights, and the last few times my wife has dragged me to the Melting Pot for a ripoff dinner of finger food I have to cook myself, the Albertson's lot has been empty.
Just a thought!

That store, after 7 years is now going to be the new golds gym. I am sure it would be a matter of time before the old heave ho. However, we may get away with it for a while. The problem is that it is very close to the old Golds gym where all the teenage ricers hang out and get in trouble all the time. But hey, we could give it a shot. IN the meantime, are we still meeting this Saturday at 1431 and 183 for a last time?

Anybody up for a cruise to the South Meet? We could include this in the rotation. Our old cars used to make family vacation trips across the USA; perhaps the old cars would enjoy some exercise miles to the South meet.

Where is the south meet? Cabela's? That's WAY south for me....
I was just told that there is a weekly Saturday Night cruise-in meet in the parking lot of the furniture store near Fry's and Harbor Freight behind Opal Devine's at Parmer and Mopac/Toll Road.
Anyone been there? My co-worker did say it tends to be a younger group, so I'm guessing ricers, BUT that does not mean we can't show them what real cars are......!
That sure is nice and close. I may go take a look and see what's there this weekend.

I'm new here but though I might chime in on the rotation idea.
If you start a rotation you should consider it being at the same place the same week of the month.
i.e. 1st Saturday = Location A, 2nd Saturday = Location B, etc.

Thats not a bad idea. We could to a once or twice a month group meet there. We still need a Saturday one though.
