I dunno, the next gen design is typically finalized by the time the current gen gets released. That would date this Mustang's design to 2005-2006

They are very close. I wonder if they share some of the same engineers from time to time. Maybe it's just a look that works.

the mustang grill is a updated version of the 1970 mustang.
As for a copy - the entire concept of the camaro back in 1967 was to capitalize on the success of the mustang ....

The Camaro has been following the Mustang since the beginning, so it is the copy.
I just think its funny that this topic came up on the Mustang forum. Others see that they are very similar.
Either way you slice it, they are both ugly. The 05-09 looks so much better.

I agree with that. I meant that Camaro was the original copy.

Guess it doesn't matter, really. I will just stick with my 46 year old mustang for a few more years ...

OK we agree the Mustang went after the 69 model look. And we agree the Camaro went after the 69 model look also. Now does a 69' Camaro and a 69' Mustang look alike? Me, I don't think they look anything alike, new ones or old ones. Seeing new ones side by side and one looks thin and agile and the other one looks alittle over weight. I'm not a big fan of either, but less of a fan of the new Camaro due to daily driving ergonomics (hard to see out of and hard to see how close you are to objects due to the sloping front end....and the fact it looks like Lightning McQueen). Love the Mustang's interior and driving feel (based on driving a 10' model), not a big fan of the Mustang's rear. But overall its driver preference. Apples to Oranges, Fords to Chevys. IMHO.....but I could be wrong
