I don't think its just that Austinites don't know how to drive in it, its just they really don't give a .... enough to slow the .... down! I had to get out to work early in the ice and going up Anderson mill in cedar park by the quarry. I had a good 100 yards in front of me to the next car and the truck behind me was about a 100 yards back or so I thought, The next thing I knew was the truck behind me was about 10 feet off my bumper. At this time, this road was a solid sheet of ice. I wasn't stupid enough to tap the brakes but I did roll down my window and wave the moron around at which time, he back off about 50 yards. People here feel their way is the only way on the road. Don't get me wrong I love to drive fast but I refuse to tailgate and certainly have the sense to back it down a notch when the ice comes. Or on even a more novel idea, I actually slow down when it rains. Id be willing to bet that Austinites have more wrecks during a rain storm than most city's do. Anyhow done ranting. Glad the ice is over! I hope none of the club had any issues with there rides this last week and everyone is safe.
