Any volunteers? I need someone to ride with me up to Longview (265 miles away). Look at a Formula with intent to purchase and drive back. Leave say 7:00 tomorrow morning and hopefully return around 4:00. All I can offer is fast food breakfast and lunch, and a chance to drive a modern muscle car. Any takers?

I checked with Greyhound this morning, and for $55 and 7 hours of travel time, I can arrive in Longview at 2:00pm. Too bad I missed that bus (should of checked earlier). I'll just keep my fingers crossed and go this route next Saturday, if he still has it.

Got another option. Don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. I used this option 2 years ago when I bought the 92 Formula in Virginia. Craigslist Rideshare. I placed an ad this morning and got a reply 2 hours later. Some young guy leaving Austin this Friday at 11:00am heading to Shrevesport, will drop me in Longview at around 3:30pm. Wish me luck on my solo journey home.

Good luck and drive safe. I have that tow dolley if you get stuck, and I know an F-body fits on it. Give me a shout if you have an issue. I know that area well. Went to school in Corsicana and Longview had a good salvage yard way back then.
Good luck!

Thanks for the offer Mike. I just might have to take you up on it if I break down. Would you PM me your phone number just in case?

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe that wasn't the right car. I'm sure something will work out and you'll get what you really want.

I like that 87 GTA! The 88 and 89 don't look too bad either.
The Austin posting has been removed.

Longview wasn't far away enough for a full on adventure so I just bought a car in Chicago sight unseen. Wait - didn't I just live through a nightmare Chicago car adventure? Oh well, I'll never learn. Now to figure out how to bring her home, any ideas or offers anyone?
1989 Formula - 305TBI, 5-speed, T-tops, red w/ black cloth interior, perfect dash, new stereo and speakers, everything works - gauges, lights, pop ups, all power features, even the power hatch.
Sellers says it will make the 1000 mile trip no problem...famous last words.

I actually found it advertised on Craigslist Chicago using the website "Jaxed.com". The seller has already deleted the ad and I have no pictures to post up. The original ad only had 2 pics (1 ext. & 1 int.). Not much to go on for a car that far away, but I couldn't pass her up. She's got the right combo of options I like and the price was right.

It sounds cool but please tell me you got pics of the underside. Chicago is salt-land in the winter. Scary! Good luck! -Mike

Seller tells me the underside is solid and the only rust is bottom of both doors and slight surface rust on lower rear quarters. Car comes with 2 extra rust free doors.

How are you going to get the 2 doors back, if you drive it?

If I can't find a cheap transporter, then I'll be flying Saturday morning the 30th. Arriving Chicago around 9:00 am then hitting the road for an 1150 mile adventure.

Watch that temp gauge. If for some reason the gauge doesn't work take an infarred thermometer with you.

Update - Leaving on American Airlines tomorrow morning at 6:00am arriving at 8:30am, then hitting the road back to Texas. Oh great, my wife is telling me as I write this, that according to the weather channel, I'll be driving through rain all the way, and winds and storms. I have complete faith in a car I have not seen yet because of the sellers comments and his seemingly truthful nature (yeah, right). So wish me luck. This is the one that will bring me home with no problems. I should be back Sunday late afternoon.
