Well the Dazed & Confused Poker Run was a good time. We had 13 cars play, even though we lost half a dozen with last minute cancellations.
The weather was cloudy, cool, and no rain. We hit 5 of the filming locations. Buy in was $20 per hand.
Our first location was "The Emporium" pool hall. This location was also the site of the "Liqour Store"
where "Mitch" was sent to buy a 6 pack, the spot where the kids dumped paint on "O'Banion", and also
the spot where the larger kid got paddled in the dead end. -
The next stop was McCallum High School, which ironically was not a film location, but looks the same, has the same colors,
and would have truly been the school the kids would have gone to in reality per location. (the others were too far away)-
(This is clearly Lanier, but we didn't go that far)
The next stop was the Ballards Store where the guys stopped for beer, and the crazy guy showed up and pulled a gun on them
for smashing his mailbox. They managed to tear off in the orange GTO. (we had to park behind the store due to size of the lot)
The next stop was the Americana Theater, where the Senior girls initiated the Freshman by trashing them with eggs, ketchup & mustard, etc.
And this was clearly Johns favorite scene at the theater, LOL-
The last stop was Northwest Park, where Mitch and the Freshman kids were playing baseball and the Seniors were waiting to paddle him.
We then returned to Top Notch (the most well known filming location) to play our poker hands.
Strada, a friend of Johns who was in Boston that morning and came in and drove to play with us won the hand. He took home $260.
The losing hand got the boobie prize, which was actually pretty cool. Kurt took that one.
It was a large trophy, dressed up with ketchup and mustard bottles, happy faces, an 8-track tape, and a Hot Wheels car.
We then proceeded with our normal monthly night meet and filled the place pretty quickly.
Ending scene of the movie, ongoing discussion of the location. Looks like Hwy. 29 to me.
Here's the "Melba Toast" ad they talked about in the movie-
