So I just had a thought.. Who would be interested in participating in a "Dazed And Confuzed" poker run.. I saw Jeff's post with the kids in the car and came up with the following perhaps in November or something.. definitely after it cools off and there aint holiday season kicking all our butts.. This would be a 5 or 6 perhaps even more stop poker run that visits official film locations of the movie in the Central Texas area. Not a TIMED event, follow the speed limits, obey traffic laws and ect. Card locations: Obviously Top Notch is a stop the "arcade" on Lamar by the Yellow Rose, "Ballard's" convenience store (actual location is 29 east in Georgetown) the park on West Enfield, Toney Burger center Bedichek Middle school.. there are others for sure, and perhaps the school properties might not be a good place to have in a poker run, but you get the idea! Anywho.. basic rules.. www.goldenruleofpoker.com/poker-runs.htmBest hand wins, multiple "official" decks only (no sandbagging), no wilds, no jokers blah blah.. All cards will be sealed individually in envelopes to only be opened at the final rally point. perhaps a donation for a some yet to be determined charity, for a chance to win trophies and/or other stuff.. (just brain storming here) Perhaps everyone pitches in parts, gift cards, old shoes, what ever to the "pot" that could be up for grabs to best hand(s) only cars with "official" registration would be eligible of course.. Ill make up some placards for that. Anyone interested in this?

Now that sounds cool. The whole movie was almost completely based around Burnet Rd except for the high schools.
Top Notch Americana Theater Arcade "The park" (is Northwest Park not too far from Top Notch) Reagan and Lanier high schools, the freshman were at Robbins special school off Guadalupe. Ballards was on Burnet Rd back then.
I am definitely game for an in and around Austin run on a Saturday morning. Required 2 person teams? ( 2 people per car)
I like this, we need to talk.

yeah there are lots of locations.. The Red Poppy car show check in Gtown is another location (used for the exterior of the middle school that the new freshmen were in) I think it could be a total blast!

Wow, the web is full of misinfo on the filming locations. Some are correct, some are wrong or assumed guesses by others. Some, like the school scenes were shot at several different schools. Not sure why.
Why would they travel to Marble Falls, G'town, or even Burger Center? Everything they needed was in the area. Every driving scene was on or right off of Burnet Rd. or Lamar, between Medical Pkwy (40th) and Anderson Ln.
Anyway, we can hammer those out offline sometime. SO how many stops do we need? 5 or 7, for a poker hand? What happens if we need more than one deck worth?

if they are close by id say 7.. but if we do the the north and south locations.. then just 5 so it doesnt take all damn day.. There were off the beaten path locations as well.. I know a few of them.. perhaps make it kinda like a GPS/Treasure Hunt thing as well? Just throwing out ideas
Id say lets make the final rally point Top Notch.. everyone leave from their homes perhaps, pick up their hand and meet at the final point at a specified time/ evening, lunch, what ever is fine with me I aint picky about times.. a night run would be more like the movie tho, just sayin.
I had a couple friends that were in the movie and a guy heather went to school with played slater. They said filming was all over the place because some schools were holding summer school and others werent. and lots of other logistical reasons as well

I have about 20 locations in mind. Some are better than others. Schools and what not might be out.. not sure how that works since all I ever want to do was LEAVE school lol!

preliminary thoughts on the poker pot starter: Day of the run, each car antes up something worth max of $20.00 (if this kind of stuff is illegal in anyway, please let me know.. im just brain storming here) this could be gift card from some store, cash, car part of some kind, perhaps a Dazed and Confused DVD.. what ever.. all contributions will be collected, transported and secured by a non-participating individual who will meet the participants at the final rally point at a specified time like before, best hand wins the pot.. HOWEVER prizes for 2nd and 3rd are being considered. Any suggestions would be great!
Finding Locations.. Addresses and or GPS coordinates perhaps? Drive all over town looking for what you think is set from the movie? Suggestions please.
Getting cards.. 1 car 1 card per stop.. Bring your friends and family in your car if you want, but 1 car = 1 card. You don't have to make ALL the card stops, but it would be a lot cooler if you did, heh heh heh If you end up with MORE cards than stops. Obviously you screwed up will be forced to donate your title to a homeless, doped up, panhandler on the Drag
The Cards.. The deck(s) will be brand new, totally shuffled (probably by the pot securing person since they are totally neutral) and have the most off the wall back design(s) I can find. So sneaking off to buy a deck of traditional Bicycle Brand cards will show everyone you are a no good dirty cheatin turd. Had some airplane guys pull this stunt a few years ago. All to win 100 bucks worth of fuel, pissed off the everyone that participated, lame. suggestions for this too.. I want input on everything so no one feels left out in this

Remember there is a printer on board. We can always make a custom deck of cards. 1 of a kind. Spicy Carlos' poker run.

I'm thinking any outfit would have to resemble someone in the movie. Too, if anyone shows up in the black and white Chevelle SS, or the orange Judge, they take it, hands down.

Sounds like fun, and putting a picture of Andrew Jackson in the pot should be ok. To misquote Wooderson, "That's what I love about theses high school cars, man. I get older, they stay the same age."
