Let's go back 35 years to the spring of 79. I was 21, had already bought, enjoyed, and sold a dozen cars already. I ran across this 69 Mach 1 through a friend of a co-worker up in Montreal. Yes, I worked as a security officer, 12 hour shifts, 4 days a week in Montreal, then would drive across the border to Vermont (where I was born and raised and still living at home) for my 3 days off. So back to the Mach 1, I picked it up for $350, running and driving, with a 390 - automatic. Drove it home, filled out paperwork at the border, made it fine, no problems, then registered it in Vermont. As you see it is how it was when I bought it. I never changed anything but drove the hell out of it for 4 months until I decided to quit my job and travel the U.S. ( which I did for 4 months until I landed in Austin). Spring of 80, I was in a bind and needed about $1000 in a hurry. I called my brother and told him to put my Stang up for sale and take no less than $1000. He sold it in 3 days to a young girl and her dad. They said they were going to fully restore her. Never heard back from them. I was reading a magazine a few years later that had a breakdown of what a Mustang came with from VIN number. Found my VIN on an old proof of insurance (I've still got it), and discovered my old Stang came from the factory with the 428 SCJ and a 4 speed (which I knew because the clutch pedal was still there). WOW. I really liked the custom Shelby stuff the previous owner had added. That's one of my cars (I'm on number 71 now), that I wish I still had.

Nice. I'll see if I can find any pics of mine and scan them. That definitely has the look and sound of a hindsight car story.
